Is it just me or do cocktails and summer just go hand in hand??  I’m not a huge drinker (unless its wine, does that count?), but there is just something about summer that makes me LOVE a good cocktail!  Only problem is, my happy hours have been dwindling because lately all my friends have been getting pregnant!  It must be in the water.  Luckily they are all major troopers and still come out to all the parties and gatherings I’ve been throwing this summer so I wanted to come up with a great mocktail that they could enjoy without feeling left out!

I introduce to you the watermelon lime mocktail.  Lemme tell you….this pitcher was devoured by everyone in less than an hour, including the non-preggo ladies so it’s a good idea to double or even triple this recipe!  This is made without any sugar too so drink it without guilt and allow yourself to enjoy all the yummy barbeque goodies.  You could of course add alcohol to this if you wanted to make a cocktail pitcher, but this is so great for all those mommys-to-be that I just HAD to share this!

Also many of you have asked for my meal plan chart that I made in this post.  If you are interested in printing it out and keeping track of your meals each week, click HERE to download the chart!  Keeping track of my meals each week has truly become a part of my weekly routine just as showering or brushing my teeth has – no seriously – and without it I find myself really falling off track.  I’ll do another post in the future about how I meal plan each week, but if you struggle with staying on track during the summer I strongly urge you to write everything out, making sure to eat 5 small meals a day (trust me it’s important!!) and make a weekly grocery list too.  Believe it or not I end up saving money this way because I don’t just go to the store when I’m hungry or go to the store every day after work like I used to.  It’s a life saver!

Also for more clean recipe ideas, feel free to check out my Pinterest page HERE.  Anytime I come across a recipe that I want to try I add it to my list and throw it into rotation.  If it’s a keeper I highlight it on my meal plan chart and add it on my list for the next week.  It’s really important to keep trying new things though so you don’t get bored of the same thing day in and day out.  If you don’t like it, don’t make it again!  You really have nothing to lose except inches – hehe.

Anyway hope you all enjoy this delicious mocktail!  It’s SOOO refreshing on those hot summer days so make a pitcher, take it out by the pool and make a day of it.  Fall will be here before ya know it – eep!!

Lemon Water with Fresh Mint

Refreshing Lemon Water with Fresh Mint that is easy to throw together for the perfect detox and more enjoyable way to drink water!

lemon-water-1

So I must say after an amazing few days of celebrating my birthday all week and indulging in some serious cake and chocolate goodies, my body needed a bit of a cleanse.  And there is no better way to cleanse the body than with some water infused with freshly squeezed lemons and sprigs of mint.  One of the major benefits in drinking lemon water is that it aids in weight loss and gives your body natural electrolytes.  It’s a great source of Vitamin C and antioxidants which helps to maintain your body’s energy while on a diet plan or when working out.

Not only is lemon water a great tool in weight loss, but it just so happens to be amazing for your skin as well!  It really gives your skin a nice glow by rejuvenating it from within and can also act as an anti-aging remedy.  Doesn’t get much better than that, eh?

Infuse your water with a few sprigs of mint as well to give it a cool fresh taste with some additional sweetness.  I can pretty much guarantee you’ll get rid of any headache too!

When it comes to lemons, a good rule of thumb that my mother always taught me is the heavier the lemon the better.  So next time you’re at the grocery store or your local farmer’s market and you come across some fresh lemons, hold them in your hand and see which ones weigh the most.  You want to get the most vitamins and minerals out of your lemons as you can!

And c’mon, doesn’t this pitcher just look so pretty??

This is the perfect way to dress up boring old water and make it fancy anytime you have friends over or throw any type of party.  It’s healthy, refreshing and super festive!  Feel free to infuse this with other fruits as well.  Kiwis, limes and berries are all fabulous choices!
